On the occasion of Internet Day, on 17 May, a conference on the rights of the child on the internet took place in the main hall of the Abat Oliba University. José María Guerra Mercadal, president of Euralva, participated in a round table moderated by the Director General of INCIBE, Alberto Hernández, in which Antonio Vargas (Google), María José Cantarino (Telefónica) and Unicef , among others.
Guerra advocated integrating users into all areas of discussion and decision-making around the audiovisual sector, in order to take into account their real needs and thus seek more effective measures. On the one hand, he added to the commitment to promote training through media literacy programs such as ours, which should focus on both the user and the minor as well as other actors in the sector. Finally, he also considered the need for all these issues not to be affected by constant political ups and downs. It is necessary a public-private partnership that takes into account all the agents linked to the defense of the child on Internet and allows to carry out initiatives with a qualitative criteria and not merely economic.
